During ovulation, the inward appearance of the vagina changes in two key ways: cervical mucus becomes clear, stretchy, and slippery like egg whites, and the cervix rises higher, becomes softer, and opens slightly. These changes are due to hormonal shifts and make it easier for sperm to travel into the uterus.  

Cervical mucus
Appearance: The discharge is typically transparent, thin, and stretchy, similar to raw egg whites. It can also be watery or slippery.

Purpose: This fertile-quality mucus allows sperm to move more easily through the cervix into the uterus. 

Cervix
Position: The cervix moves to a higher position within the vagina.

Texture: It feels softer and moister compared to other times of the month.

Opening: The cervical opening becomes slightly more open to allow sperm to pass through. 

Other potential changes
Spotting: Some women may experience very light spotting, which can be pink or reddish, mixed with cervical fluid. 

While generally normal, persistent or painful spotting should be discussed with a doctor.
