Rinsola Babajide Shines with Assist as AS Roma Cruise into Champions League Round Three

Nigeria forward Rinsola Babajide continued her impressive run of form in Europe, providing a decisive assist as AS Roma stormed to a commanding 5-1 win over Sparta Prague to secure their place in Round Three of the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League Qualifiers.

Playing at the Stadium Prosek in Prague, Roma took control from the outset. Norwegian winger Emilie Haavi broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, before Lucia Di Guglielmo extended the lead shortly after halftime with a well-taken goal in the 52nd minute.

Midfield maestro Manuela Giugliano then took centre stage, netting twice in quick succession (55’, 72’) to effectively put the tie beyond Sparta Prague’s reach.

Babajide, introduced in the 71st minute for Alayah Pilgrim, wasted no time making her mark. Just minutes after her arrival, she teed up fellow substitute Marta Pandini for Roma’s fifth goal, capping a dominant display by the Italian champions.

Though Sparta Prague’s Aneta Dedinova scored a late consolation, it did little to dampen the mood in the Roma camp.

The assist was Babajide’s second in as many Champions League outings, underlining her growing importance in Roma’s attacking setup since joining the club earlier this year.

The 27-year-old has continued her fine form from the summer, where she played a key role in Nigeria’s victorious 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign.

With this resounding victory, AS Roma now advance confidently to the third and final qualifying round, one step away from securing a spot in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage.
