Remo Stars FC of Ikenne, Nigeria’s sole representative in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, kicked off their campaign in emphatic fashion over the weekend, dismantling Zilimadjou FC of Comoros with a resounding 4-0 victory at the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta.

The NPFL champions, fondly known as the Sky Blue Stars, dominated the match from start to finish, showcasing their class and intent to make a deep run in this year’s continental competition.

The scoring opened early in the 12th minute with a calm finish from Malian import Leonard Ngenge, who capitalised on a defensive lapse. The momentum remained with the Nigerian side, and just before halftime, Ebuka Anthony doubled the lead in the 43rd minute, sending fans into rapturous celebration.

Returning from the break with the same energy, Remo Stars continued to pile on the pressure. Their persistence paid off in the 69th minute when Adams Goïta finished off a swift counterattack with a brilliant strike to make it 3-0. The icing on the cake came in the 80th minute when Seun Olasupo calmly slotted home the fourth goal, sealing a perfect evening for the hosts.

The lively Abeokuta crowd was treated to an electrifying performance, with chants and celebrations echoing through the stadium as the Sky Blue Stars displayed the confidence and cohesion of true league champions.

With this result, Remo Stars head into the second leg in Comoros with a commanding 4-goal cushion, putting them in prime position to advance to the next stage of the competition.
