Organisers have revealed that two of Nigeria's foremost teams, Rangers and Bendel Insurance are top amongst six Nigeria Premier Football League teams that will take part in the 2025 Bayelsa Preseason Tournament scheduled for August 10, 2025, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Others are Warri Wolves, Kun Khalifat, El-Kanemi Warriors and hosts, Bayelsa United just as the tournament has been slated for the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

 

This was contained in a statement signed by the coordinator of the tournament, Mr. Diseye Nwankwe ahead of the commencement of the tournament slated for 10th through the 16th of August, 2025 at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

Bayelsa United U-20 team and Eternal Grace Ministry current holders of the Restoration Cup, are the two non-Premiership teams taking part in the 2025 Bayelsa Preseason Tournament, bringing to total number of participating teams to eight (8).

Tournament Coordinator, Nwankwe disclosed in a statement that the pre-season tournament was aimed at putting Bayelsa United in good shape ahead of the coming 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season scheduled to kick off on 22 August, 2025.

The Preseason tournament is expected to come to a fitting close on 16 August, 2025.

Nwankwe expressed deep  appreciation to the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and the state Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali for ensuring that Bayelsa United gets good preparation ahead the new season.
