Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made through his media aide, Ms. Gloria Okolugbo, who attributed the decision to frustrations with the PDP’s leadership in Delta State.

According to Okolugbo, Senator Nwoko’s move was driven by the lack of cooperation and support from his former party, which hindered his ability to fulfill campaign promises to his constituents in the Anioma region.

“Senator Nwoko came prepared to serve and deliver the dividends of good governance to the Anioma people. However, he has not enjoyed the cooperation and support of his party,” Okolugbo explained.

Nwoko, a prominent figure in Delta politics, joined the Senate in 2023 on the PDP platform. His defection is viewed as a strategic move to align with the ruling party, which he believes will provide a better platform to achieve his legislative goals and deliver meaningful development to Delta North.

The defection has sparked reactions across political circles, with some describing it as a significant blow to the PDP in Delta State. Others see it as part of the broader realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As Nwoko begins his new political journey with the APC, all eyes are on his next steps and how the move will impact the political landscape in Delta State and beyond.
