Rangers Hitman, Obaje, To Miss Rest Of NPFL Over Injury

Godwin Obaje is a major doubt as Rangers face Enyimba in the Match Day 35 of the 2023/2024 NPFL with the rampant forward risking missing the remaining four matches of the current NPFL season on account of injury and this comes in the wake of the Rangers title run-in as the Nigeria top flight enters its business end.

Obaje, a former FC Ifeanyi Ubah forward, is Rangers leading scorer with 11 goals.

Rangers are sitting top of the standings with The People's Elephant following with just two points shy of the Coal City Flying Antelopes even as Enyimba are still awaiting their appeal against the two points that was deducted from them by the O&D in the aftermath of the ugly scenes that overshadowed their match day 24 home clash against Doma United.

If Enyimba succeed in convincing the NFF Appeals Committee to restore their two points, it then follows that the two South East teams will tie on point's as the season runs to to its home stretch.

Obaje has scored 11 goals to help Rangers climb to the top of the table. He will now miss the final four matches of the season; indeed a huge blow to the Flying Antelopes.

Obaje's likely absence in the final four games of the season is, no doubt, a big setback for Rangers, who sit just two points ahead of second-placed Enyimba at the summit of the Nigerian top flight.

Title holders, Enyimba, are Rangers’ next opponents in a potentially title-deciding contest, as the race for the NPFL crown reaches a thrilling climax.

Enyimba have won the title nine times and are in dire hunt for a record 10th.

With two points separating the two traditional South East Side, winner of this weekend's 'Oriental Derby' would as well have laid one hand on the 2023/2024 NPFL trophy.

In contrast, and as a major stimulating factor in the NPFL Match Day 35 fixture, Rangers, seven-time winners in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1984, and 2016, are aware that Obaje's possible absence in the crucial tie, will pose a huge challenge in the their eighth (8th) domestic top flight hunt.
