Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has criticized Christian leaders in Nigeria over what he described as their silence concerning alleged killings of Christians in parts of the country.

 

His reaction follows reports of a fresh attack on worshippers during Palm Sunday in Jos, which has reignited public debate about claims of targeted violence against Christians.

 

In a video shared online, the “Zazu” crooner accused some pastors of hypocrisy, alleging that they focus more on personal protection—such as using bulletproof vehicles—while failing to publicly address the plight of their members.

 

Portable questioned why religious leaders have not organized protests or taken stronger action in response to the repeated incidents, stating that their silence is both troubling and disappointing.

 

He also argued that leaders of other religious groups might respond more decisively if their followers were subjected to similar attacks.

 

Speaking in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin English, the singer expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of leadership and advocacy from Christian clerics amid ongoing violence.

 

His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting his call for accountability, while others argue that the issue requires a more nuanced and unified national response involving both religious and political leaders.
