A 94-year-old man, Adedapo Idowu, has registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with the goal of studying Political Science at the University of Ibadan (UI), fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Idowu completed his registration at the JAMB Professional Test Center in Ibadan, Oyo State, expressing excitement over the smooth and efficient process. He praised the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its use of technology, including National Identity Number (NIN) integration, which made registration seamless.
His story was featured in JAMB’s latest bulletin, where he shared how his initial fears about pursuing higher education at his age were dispelled by the warm reception he received during registration.
“I can now attain my dream at an advanced age. The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging,” he said.
He also encouraged fellow candidates to approach their academic journey with professionalism and contentment, while urging JAMB to continue ensuring inclusive access to education, particularly for the elderly, underprivileged, and persons with disabilities.
Idowu is among the over 700,000 candidates who have so far registered for the 2025 UTME, including 11,000 underage applicants, according to JAMB.
