Police Declares Woman Wanted For Jumping Bail Over Sexuality
The Police in Lagos, Nigeria have declared one Abosede Adejoke Egona for jumping bail over a case of same-sex issue.
The Police said that the mother of two was first reported and arrested on March 9, 2023, at Obalende Police Division, Ogun state following a report by the husband who found some text messages and pictures of her with her same-sex partner who is at large. She was detained and granted bail on self-recognition.
However, on August 30, 2023, she was rearrested and taken to Onikan Police Station, Lagos, where she was to be charged to court on a one-count charge of same-sex practice which is prohibited by law in Nigeria. She was granted bail and will appear in Court on 15 October 2023.
Before, the said date, the accused had jumped bail, and every police effort to track her down proved abortive.
Police have therefore appealed to members of the public with useful information on how to track down Abosede Adejoke Egona to report to the nearest police station.
