Labour Party presidential candidate for 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, don confirm again say him go contest for president come 2027. Him also don clear the air say all the talk wey dey fly around say he fit run as Atiku Abubakar running mate na pure lie.

 

Obi yarn this one for Sunday Politics, a programme wey Channels TV show. He talk say him no dey plan to be vice president to Atiku or anybody at all.

 

“I go contest for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I believe say I get the qualification,” Obi talk.

 

When dem ask am whether he dey reason to become running mate to Atiku for 2027, Obi sharply reply:

 

“Dat one no dey anywhere. Nobody don ever talk that kind thing with me. People just dey assume anyhow. Nobody don meet me talk say make I be A, B or C.”

 

Obi, wey be former governor of Anambra State, still talk say him still strong for Labour Party, even though him dey work with the coalition wey recently adopt African Democratic Congress (ADC) as platform to take chase APC comot for power in 2027.

 

“I dey part of this coalition wey go fit produce better president – one wey get sense and get human feeling to help Nigeria,” he talk.

 

He still explain say the move to join the coalition no mean say he don leave Labour Party or say he dey do any anti-party behaviour.

 

“Nothing like anti-party for here,” Obi talk. “We never abandon anywhere. We dey move together. Wetin dey constant be say we don agree to work hand in hand.”

 

As people dey talk say him dey mix with some politicians wey get wahala or bad reputation, Obi reply say good leadership na to carry everybody along.

 

“Leader job na to bring change,” he talk. “You need everybody join body. If you wan serve, you must serve everybody, no be select who you go carry.”

 

Obi also fire back at the Tinubu-led government, say dem no dey handle governance well. He promise say if he win, e go bring better leadership wey get discipline and sabi the work.

 

“We go make sure we remove Tinubu government through every legal way,” Obi talk. “I go rule with law, bring respect back to Nigeria, and I go put people wey sabi for position. Me, I no go be Minister of Petroleum.”

 

This Obi statement dey come at the same time opposition people dey hustle to form strong team ahead of 2027 election, as plenty Nigerians dey complain about hardship and poor governance under the current government.
