Ozalla FC Raise Alarm Over Exclusion From NLO Promotion Play-Offs In Port Harcourt Despite Top Place Finish In Awka

Ozalla Football Club has raised an alarm over their shocking last minute removal from the Nationwide League One Promotion play-offs which started on Saturday, 12 July, at Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Ozalla finished top of the Awka Center during the group games and we're billed to feature in the four-team Promotion play-offs in Port Harcourt.

But following a petition by Campos FC, Owerri, over their suspension and fine in the aftermath of an alleged match fixing against A&A Kiviansennus, which ended 15-2 in favour of Campos, the NLO Secretariat suspended Campos and placed a fine of N500, 000.00 them. Their officials were also sanctioned.

This development saw Ozalla FC emerge winners of the group and were set for the Promotion play-offs in Port Harcourt.

But Campos petition to the Disciplinary Committee of the NFF ensured that the Port Harcourt Center as well as those of Sagamu and Ijebu Ode which had pending cases, we're put on hold.

But after the Disciplinary Committee of NFF meeting on July 12, where the cases were thrashed out, the NLO fixed resumption of the three groups matches on July 12 and even roled out fixtures of the matches with Ozalla slatted to meet E-World in the opening game.

Surprisingly, the team arrived Port Harcourt only to see Campos in the center.

"We tried to find out what happened but no one was ready and willing to explain to us", Ikenna Osueke, President and sole financier of Ozalla lamented.

"We didn't get any letter from the NLO, nor from our FA. Is this fair? How can NLO draw a fixture of a tournament we qualified for and yet we came here only to be told we're no longer part of the competition?

"No letter, no communication whatsoever and we're made to spend resources taking our team to Port Harcourt amidst the risks.

"This is injustice at its peak. You can't imagine one of the NLO officials represented the same Campos during athe pre-match meeting here.

"Question is, why we're we not informed as they did when the games were postponed and rescheduled? What's really fishing? Who's after Ozalla FC?

"We can't take this. We'll get to the root of it, I tell you", Osueke threatened.
