Nigerian singer Ikuforiji Olaitan, popularly known as Oxlade, recently opened up about facing racial abuse in France.

On 'The Datebizz' podcast, Oxlade revealed that the experience inspired his debut album's title, 'Oxlade From Africa.'

"I was racially abused in Monaco, France," he shared. "That moment made me realize the stigma surrounding being African. In Africa, we see ourselves as normal, but outside, they view us differently."

Oxlade emphasized that this encounter sparked a sense of pride in his African identity.

He also expressed concerns about the perception of Africa and Nigeria abroad, stating that these names are often used derogatorily.
