Super Falcons star Francisca Ordega has described the grand reception held in her honour by the Benue State Government as a powerful motivation to continue contributing to the development of her home state.

 

The 31-year-old Al-Ittihad Ladies forward was part of the Nigerian squad that clinched a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco last month.

 

Days after a presidential reception in Abuja, Ordega was hosted by Governor Hyacinth Alia in Makurdi, where she received a N50 million cash gift, a three-bedroom bungalow, and the promise of a street to be named after her in the state capital.

 

Writing on her Facebook page, the five-time WAFCON winner expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a shared achievement with all who have supported her career.

 

“Receiving this recognition is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the collective efforts of my family, friends, colleagues, and fans who have supported me throughout my journey,” Ordega said. “I am deeply humbled by this acknowledgement and inspired to continue contributing to the growth and development of our beloved state.”

 

She noted that the honour was also a reminder of the collective responsibility to promote unity and progress within the community.

 

“Your belief in my work motivates me to strive for excellence and to give back to the community that has shaped me. I look forward to continuing to serve and uplift our great state of Benue. Together we shall do great things,” she added.

 

Ordega, whose club career has spanned all continents, reiterated her commitment to using her platform to inspire the next generation of athletes in Benue and beyond.
