Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan has found itself in fresh trouble following violent scenes at the end of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 32 clash against Ikorodu City. On Wednesday, the club was slammed with a total fine of N5 million and had its home ground, the Lekan Salami Stadium (Adamasingba), closed to fans for the remainder of the season.

The NPFL Disciplinary Committee found Shooting Stars guilty on multiple counts, including failure to provide adequate security, failure to control their supporters, and allowing objects to be thrown at match officials and onto the field of play.

According to the ruling, the club will pay N3 million in cumulative fines for these offences:

• N1 million for failing to provide adequate security, which allowed unauthorized individuals to access restricted areas and harass officials.

• N1 million for failing to ensure proper conduct of supporters, leading to assaults on Ikorodu City fans.

• N1 million for supporters throwing objects onto the pitch and at referees, in violation of Rule B13.18.

In addition to these penalties, 3SC is to pay N2 million in compensation to Ikorodu City for damages sustained by their team bus during the post-match chaos.

 

The Disciplinary Panel deemed the infractions serious enough to warrant the immediate closure of the Lekan Salami Stadium to fans, citing safety and security concerns.

 

This latest sanction comes on the heels of the club’s earlier expulsion from the 2025 President Federation Cup for fielding ineligible players—adding to what has become a season of controversy for the Ibadan-based side.

Under Rule C26 of the NPFL Framework and Rules, Shooting Stars now has 48 hours to accept the ruling or file an appeal.
