The 2024 edition of the annual All Secondary Schools Football Championship came to a fitting end over the weekend with Okongwu Memorial Grammar School and Vision High School emerge as stand-out champions amidst glamorous and pageantry.

The championship which got underway on 13th February 2024 with 32 schools drawn from three Local Government areas, comprising Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo in both male and female categories,  climaxed on 30th March 2024 at Nnewi High School football pitch.

The female final was a replica of last year's thrilling final in  which defending champions, Vision High School defeated hard fighting Nnewi Girls Secondary school (Anglican Girls) 2-1  to retain their title.

The third place match in the male category which was decided on penalties after a 1-1 regulation time scoreline, Government Technical College, Ichi, Ekwusigo LGA, defeated title holders, Nigeria Science and Technical College, Otolo, 11-10.

Then came the bluckburster grand finale, which produced new champions in the male category as Okongwu Memorial Grammar School who were last year's losing finalists defeated Vision High school  3-1 .

Nigeria Science and Technical College female team had earlier in the week defeated  Christ the Way Secondary School to win the third position in the female category.

The winners in both categories went home with a sum of #150,000, a giant trophy, while runner up in the two categories smiled home with #100,000 each just as third placed teams were rewarded to the tune of N80,000 respectively.

Dignitaries at the final, were the chairman, Anambra State Sports Development Commission,  Hon Patrick Estate Onyedum, who was represented by the Sports Officer for Nnewi Zone; the Nnewi North Transition Committee  Nnewi North Local Government Area Engr Chris Obiora with his entourage as well as members of the Sports Writters Association Of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter

Okwudili Emmanuel,  Secretary of All Secondary School Championship expressed satisfaction with this year's edition and promised that next years edition will be better, he also revealed  that All Secondary School championships is not only Football centered as plans are underway to dive into other sports like , athletic, indoor sports  Tennis  amongst others.
