Obi Criticizes Political Leadership Over Distractions Amid National Crises

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s political leadership, accusing them of being distracted by controversies while critical national issues remain unaddressed.
In a tweet on Sunday, Obi lamented that rather than tackling urgent challenges such as poverty, insecurity, and underdeveloped healthcare and education sectors, politicians are preoccupied with scandals and power struggles.
His comments come in the wake of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Supreme Court ruling on Rivers State’s political crisis, which has reignited tensions over governance and state allocations.
Obi criticized the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary for actions he described as “disgusting and uninspiring,” warning that their failures are eroding public trust and threatening democracy. He urged political leaders to shift their focus from partisan conflicts to solving Nigeria’s pressing problems.
