PARIS OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION: NBBF Congratulates D'Tigress, Nigerians .. thanks FG for continued supports
Nigeria Basketball Federation congratulates and celebrates with the Federal government and every Nigerian on the hard-earned qualification of Nigeria senior women national basketball team, D'Tigress for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
In a release made available to the press, the NBBF led by its indefatigable President, Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, was full of praises for the Nigerian girls, who braved all odds to pick the ticket at the expense of perennial arch-rivals Senegal, at the qualification tournament, ongoing in Antwerp, Belgium.
It recalled some of the challenges faced by the federation in preparing the team for the tournament, including late release of players by their clubs, inability to have the full commitments of the team to train before the matches, late travel arrangements from their various destinations to the venue of the tournament in Belgium.
Despite these challenges, NBBF attributed this monumental achievement of the girls to their belief and trust in the leadership of the federation, as well as, their self-determination, passion and unbridled patriotism, to make the country proud at all times.
The NBBF, profoundly thanked the federal government, particularly, the Honorable Minister for sports development, Senator John Eno Owan, for his unflinching support and determination to see that the team travelled for the qualifiers, despite the financial challenges that the Ministry is facing.
The NBBF also appreciated the huge support of teeming Nigerians at home and in diaspora who have come to love the game of basketball and appreciate the strings of successes recorded by the federation over the years.
NBBF also reassured Nigerians and the Ministry, of its unflinching determination and commitment to the growth and development of the game in Nigeria, hoping that early preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be ensured for the team to do very well at the games.
The federation added that it will be in Paris, with its very best players available at home and around the world, that are willing to wear the Nigeria colours with pride and absolute patriotism
