NWFL Matchday 2 Round Up
It was a thrilling Matchday Two of the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, with several teams making statements of intent.
In one of the standout matches, Edo Queens traveled to Owerri to take on Heartland Queens. The visitors got off to a flying start, with Osigwe Goodness scoring in the 40th minute. Heartland Queens pulled one back through Mathew Monica in the 48th minute, but Osigwe sealed the win for Edo Queens with her second goal in the 70th minute.
In Lagos, Dannaz Ladies continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 win over Confluence Queens. Zainab Raji opened the scoring in the 9th minute, and Omotoke Ogunfuwa sealed the win with a 32nd-minute strike.
Abia Angels were also among the big winners, thrashing Nasarawa Amazons 3-0 in Umuahia. Merrit Offor, Dorothy Eshiet, and Chiamaka Ojilafor were the goalscorers for the Angels.
In Abuja, Naija Ratels and Rivers Angels played out a thrilling 1-1 draw. Chisom Nwachukwu gave Rivers Angels the lead in the 46th minute, but Oladeji Oluwabunmi equalized for Naija Ratels in the 50th minute.
FC Robo Queens also picked up an important win, beating Adamawa Queens 2-1 in Lagos. Favour Nkwocha and Opeyemi Ajakaye scored for Robo Queens, while Tarfa Anastasia replied for Adamawa Queens.
Delta Queens were another team to pick up a big win, thrashing Benue Queens 2-0 in Asaba. Princess Adam scored both goals for Delta Queens.
Remo Stars Ladies also continued their good form with a 1-0 win over Ekiti Queens in Ikenne. Olamide Bolaji scored the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute.
The only goalless draw of the day came in Uyo, where Ibom Angels and Bayelsa Queens shared the spoils.
