The Nigeria Women Football League has sanctioned Osun Babes FC for breaching its regulations, which resulted in the non-commencement of their 2025/2026 Premiership fixture against FC Robo Queens in Lagos.

 

The match, scheduled for Wednesday, 18 February 2026, at Onikan Stadium, could not proceed after Osun Babes, the designated away team, failed to provide an alternative set of jerseys with clearly printed names and numbers despite a confirmed colour clash with the home team.

 

As a result, match officials awarded a walkover to FC Robo Queens in accordance with NWFL regulations.

 

According to the league, Osun Babes violated Article 10.3 of the NWFL Regulatory Framework, which requires away teams to use their second-choice kit to resolve colour clashes. Article 10.5 further mandates that the away team must change to alternative colours if the home team is wearing its registered first-choice kit.

 

The club was also found to have breached Article 14.7 for failing to honour the fixture without force majeure or an acceptable justification.

 

Consequently, Osun Babes was fined ₦1,000,000 for the jersey violation and ₦1,500,000 for failing to fulfil the fixture, bringing the total fine to ₦2,500,000.

 

Commenting on the decision, NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi stated that the league remains committed to maintaining professionalism and strict compliance with its regulations.

 

She emphasised that the measures were necessary to protect the integrity and credibility of the league, rather than to punish the club for its own sake.

 

The NWFL also reiterated its commitment to fair play, discipline, and the orderly conduct of matches, urging all Premiership clubs to strictly adhere to league rules to avoid future sanctions.
