NWFL Approves Honey Badgers' Name Change to Benue Queens

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has approved the name change of Honey Badgers to Benue Queens, following the successful takeover by the Benue State Government.

The approval was confirmed in a letter by NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi, after a rigorous verification process. Benue Queens will take over all fixtures, points, and standings previously held by Honey Badgers in the NWFL Premiership.

Shabi praised the Benue State Government's commitment to operating and funding the club according to NWFL regulations. The takeover marks a significant milestone for the club, which earned promotion to the NWFL Premiership this season.

Benue Queens will face stiff competition in Group B, including Naija Ratels, Ibom Angels, and Rivers Angels. Their campaign kicks off on January 15, 2025, against Robo Queens in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
