As the Nigeria National League (NNL) 2024/25 season enters its decisive stages, Matchday 20 produced key shifts in both Conference A and B standings, with Warri Wolves and Kun Khalifat FC maintaining top positions in their respective groups.


Conference A: Warri Wolves Take Commanding Lead

Warri Wolves continue their dominant form, sitting comfortably atop Conference A with 36 points from 16 matches. Their 3-1 away win over Igbajo United on May 31 solidified their lead, boasting the highest goal difference in the group (+15) and an unbeaten run away from home.

Crown FC trail in second with 30 points after a one goal home  win over Inter Lagos, while Smart City FC and Inter Lagos FC remain firmly in contention with 28 and 27 points respectively. 

Abia Comets (5th) slipped in the rankings after a 1-1 home draw with Beyond Limits FA. Igbajo United and 1472 FC round out the bottom of the table, with the latter officially withdrawn from the league, reshaping the relegation dynamics.

    •    Igbajo Utd 1-3 Warri Wolves: Dominant away display from the leaders.
    •    Crown FC 1-0 Inter Lagos FC: put the Ogbomosho team in front  for the second-placed team.


Conference B: Kun Khalifat Hold Narrow Lead Amid Tight Title Race

Kun Khalifat FC top Conference B with 36 points after a narrow  1-0 away lost to  Osun United on June 2. They remain unbeaten at home and have the best defense in the group, conceding only 11 goals in 18 matches.

Osun United and Sporting Lagos follow closely with 33 and 31 points respectively. Sporting Lagos climbed after a comfortable 4-0 thrashing of First Bank FC, registering the largest win of the weekend.

Rovers FC (30 pts) and Solution FC (27 pts) remain in touching distance, making the promotion race a five-horse contest.

Abakaliki FC remain rooted to the bottom with just 7 points after yet another loss, this time a 0-1 defeat to God’swill Akpabio Utd. Gateway United and God’swill Akpabio Utd continue to struggle just above the drop zone.

    •    Sporting Lagos 4-0 First Bank FC: Most emphatic win of Matchday 20.
    •    Osun United 1-0 over Kun Khalifat FC: Statement of home win for table toppers.
    •    ABS FC 1-1 Madiba FC: A point shared that helps neither side significantly.
