Nweruru Mbakwe Comprehensive Secondary School, Umuihi, has emerged as champions of the inaugural Chief Okpotemba Inter-Secondary School Football Tournament held in Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State.

The team secured a hard-fought victory against Abueke Community Secondary School in a thrilling final played at the Community School Umuihi football pitch. The match ended 4-3 on penalties, after a goalless full time.The tournament, sponsored by Chief Cheta Ojukwu, brought together eight secondary schools from the local government area.

Group A featured Amainyi High School, Nweruru Mbakwe Comprehensive Secondary School Umuihi, Amakohia Secondary School, and Madonna Science Secondary School Ihitte. Group B had All Saints Secondary School Uboma, Abueke Community Secondary School, Okata Comprehensive Secondary School Lowa, and Uboma Secondary School Ikperejere competing for spots in the semifinals.

Chief Cheta Ojukwu, the tournament’s sponsor, expressed gratitude to the organizing committee for delivering an exciting football event in a short time. He congratulated the champions and commended all participating teams for their effort and sportsmanship.
