Osun United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sporting Lagos in a thrilling Matchday 10 encounter at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos. The win keeps Osun United's promotion playoff hopes alive, thanks to first-half goals from Emmanuel Essien and Ganiyu Gberefun.

Essien opened the scoring in the 31st minute, capitalizing on a well-delivered ball from Naheem Odugbemi, before Gberefun doubled the lead with a clinical finish in the 41st minute, taking his tally to six goals for the season.

Despite Osun United's dominant performance, Sporting Lagos fought hard in the second half and was awarded a controversial penalty in the dying moments, which they converted to reduce the deficit.

Osun United's substitute, Olateju Robiu, missed a golden opportunity to extend the lead, but the visitors held on for the three points. Osun United will next face Ijesha Golden Warriors in the Osun State Federations Cup Semi-Final on February 19th.
