The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced a strong lineup of members for the Main Organising Committee (MOC) ahead of the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games scheduled to take place in Lagos later this year.

 

The National Intermediate Games is a key initiative introduced under the leadership of NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director General Bukola Olopade. The programme is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria Sports Economy (RHINSE), aimed at strengthening athlete development and boosting the nation’s sports production framework.

 

Designed as a developmental bridge, the Intermediate Games will provide a structured pathway for athletes above the age of 15 who have progressed from the National Youth Games, ensuring continuity in talent identification and growth.

 

According to the NSC, Director General Bukola Olopade will serve as Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, while the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee will act as Vice Chairman. Olalekan Alabi has been named Secretary of the MOC.

 

Other members of the committee include Amaka Ashiofu, Niyi Beyioku, Thecla Para, Kehinde Ajayi, Rabiu Mohammed, Mbora Ikana, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Yusuf Ali, Emmanuel Igbinosa, and Micheal Obasi.

 

Additional members include Salisu Abubakar, Seyi Johnson, Rekiya Amedu, Kawu Ahmad Muazu, Olufisayo Odiaka, and Mariam Akande, alongside a representative of the State Director of Sports.

 

Speaking on the development, Olopade urged committee members to deploy their wealth of experience and expertise to ensure the success of the inaugural Games. He emphasized the need for the event to establish a lasting legacy and set a high standard for future editions.

 

The maiden National Intermediate Games is expected to play a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s next generation of elite athletes while reinforcing the country’s commitment to sustainable sports development.
