A pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, "Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria," has commended governors of the party and some prominent members for committing to the repositioning of the party.

The group noted that the governors' stance on the disputed national secretary issue was a major step in addressing the lingering dispute following the Supreme Court ruling on the matter.

In a statement on Friday, Mr. Tunde Shola, a member of the group from Lagos State, noted that the decision of the governors recommending the appointment of the Deputy National Secretary South to replace the warring faction is a positive step to settle the lingering contention over the occupant of the office.

Shola also said the group is impressed by the commitment of some prominent members of the party like former Governors Sule Lamido, Seriake Dickson and Bode George for their commitment to the progress of the party.

According to Shola, the commitment of these prominent members and others is a sign that the PDP was far from being written off.

 Also, the group praised Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde of Bauchi and Oyo States, respectively, for their leadership qualities.

"We are particularly pleased with our governors decision to settle the lingering issue of the occupant of the National Secretary position. With the recommendation that the Deputy National Secretary South to be made substantive National Secretary should settle the matter and refocus the party ahead of 2027.

"It is exciting to see that the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, His Excellency Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi is not relenting in galvanising his colleagues and addressing issues of national importance with courage. He should know we support and are with him.

"It is also worthy of note that Governor Seyi Makinde has demonstrated leadership in not only hosting the party’s governors in Ibadan, but has respositioned the PDP in the South-west as the most viable and vibrant party for serious minded leaders and politicians to vie for office in 2027. We commend him," Shola stated.
