Matchday 1: Review

A total of nine goals was scored today, in the opening day of matches at the 2025 edition of the NPFL U19 Championship, ongoing at the Ikenne centre, Ogun State,  

In the first game, Bendel Insurance lost 1-2 to Ikorodu City. The second game saw current winners of NY U19 league, Kwara United lost 0-2 to Remo Stars.

The third game of matchday one ended in 2-2 draw between Shooting Stars and Sunshine Stars.

Speaking at the end of matchday one games, one of the coordinators of the centre, Musibau Oseni, praised the participating teams for their understanding and cooperation, despite the unexpected challenges brought on by nature.

He went on to admonish all teams and their officials, to continue to show high levels of discipline and also, maintain the impressive standards of play, for the benefits and development of youth football. 

Meanwhile, matches continue Tuesday at the same venue on matchday two, as Remo Stars tackle Shooting Stars in the first game. 

Followed by Ikorodu City taking on Sunshine Stars. And the last game of the day would see both Kwara United and Bendel Insurance trading tackles and trying to redeem themselves having lost their opening games.
