The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed severe sanctions on El-Kanemi Warriors FC for security breaches during their Matchday 34 fixture against Ikorodu City. The club has been fined N3.5 million and ordered to close its stadium, El-Kanemi Stadium, to fans for the remainder of the season.

The sanctions were imposed due to several breaches of NPFL rules, including:

- Failure to provide adequate security, allowing unauthorized persons to access restricted areas and harass match officials (N1 million fine)
- Supporters throwing objects onto the field of play (N1 million fine)
- Failure to ensure proper conduct of supporters, resulting in damage to the away team's vehicle (N1 million fine + N500,000 compensation)

The NPFL has also ordered El-Kanemi Warriors to implement more effective match-day security frameworks and crowd control measures, submitting details to the league within seven working days.

The club must respond in writing to accept the ruling or elect to appear before a disciplinary panel, as per Rule C26 of the NPFL Frameworks and Rules. This development serves as a stern warning to clubs to prioritize fan behavior and stadium security.
