Enyimba Confirm Promotion Of Daniel Eke As Chief Scouting Officer
Enyimba FC has announced the promotion of Daniel Eke as the People's Elephant Chief Scouting Officer, with immediate effect, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
This comes after weeks of uncertainties over who Replaces Ifeanyi Ekwueme As the People's Elephant Sporting Director, between Daniel Eke and Uche Okechukwu.
Following Ekwueme's resignation, Club Chairman, Nwankwo Kanu, announced 'Gentle Giant' Uche Okechukwu, as the club's new Sporting Director.
Days later,xthe Abia State Government, through the Information Commissioner, announced Eke as Ekwueme's replacement.
The development brought the management of the club and State Government on collision course.
However, several peace meeting have been held between the government and the leadership of the club, culminating in a decision on Monday, to elevate Mr Eke to the position of Chief Scouting Officer.
This means Uche Okechukwu remains the nine time NPFL winners Sporting Director.
Eke's elevation was conveyed in an official letter duly signed by the Club's Executive Chairman and former Super Eagles Captain, Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo (MON),dated 9 February, 2026, highlighting the club management’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the club’s technical backbone and sustaining Enyimba’s tradition of excellence.
Exclusivenews.com.ng gathered that prior to his elevation, Eke served as the Scouting Manager of the People’s Elephant.
In his new role, Eke is expected to oversee and coordinate the club’s scouting programme, with a clear mandate to identify, nurture, and integrate exceptional talents capable of driving Enyimba FC’s short, medium and long term ambitions, both in the domestic and on the African continental stage.
In a statement on Monday, 9 February, 2026, Enyimba said that Daniel Eke 'represents the very essence of the club’s development philosophy".
"Over the years, Mr Eke has steadily built an impressive career in football scouting and player development, earning respect for his keen eye for talent, deep understanding of the game, and alignment with Enyimba’s winning culture", Enyimba said in the statement.
"The Chairman's decision is a strategic and forward thinking move, reinforcing Enyimba FC’s resolve to institutionalize excellence, reward competence, and deepen its talent discovery network across Nigeria and beyond", the statement added.
"This promotion not only validates Mr Eke’s dedication and consistency but also sends a strong message of continuity, trust, and ambition as Enyimba FC intensifies efforts to remain a dominant force in African football", it added.
