Nollywood Actor Patrick Doyle Slams "I Am a Chosen" Phrase
Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has criticized the popular phrase "I Am a Chosen" used by members of The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, calling it "nonsensical" and unconnected to Christian doctrine.
Doyle's remarks come amid social media controversy surrounding viral testimonies from the church. In a Facebook post, he argued that the phrase focuses adoration on the church's leader, not Jesus Christ.
"The members of this sect don't have Jesus in mind when chanting the phrase... To infer that it's connected to giving glory to Jesus' name is to mock our faith," Doyle wrote.
Doyle's criticism follows actor IK Ogbonna's call for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to address "fake miracles" in churches. Actress Kemi Lala Akindoju also criticized the church's doctrine.
CAN has condemned a viral testimony from a congregant claiming an angel provided exam answers, sparking debate about the church's teachings.
