For statement wey the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Akinsola Akinlabi, sign on Saturday for Abuja, he describe the report as baseless and wrong interpretation of government reforms wey dey happen for passport administration.

 

Akinlabi make am clear say no region or state for Nigeria wey dem block from passport issuance. According to am, all the reforms wey government dey do na to make passport process better, more secure and transparent for the whole country.

 

He explain say NIS don introduce phased onboarding system to move passport offices, including those for Nigerian embassies abroad, enter one centralised passport production system.

 

The spokesperson talk say the modernisation process wey start for 2024 no be to deny any Nigerian passport, but to improve service delivery and protect the integrity of Nigeria passport system.

 

According to am, passport offices for North-East and North-Central don already join the centralised production system successfully.

 

“The states include Borno, Yobe, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau,” Akinlabi talk.

 

He also reveal say 35 international passport offices across Africa, Asia, Europe and South America don fully integrate into the new system.

 

Akinlabi add say the onboarding of passport offices for South-East dey ongoing for the first quarter of 2026. The states wey dey involved include Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.

 

He still talk say five international passport stations for Italy, Greece, Spain, Switzerland and Austria dey part of the ongoing migration.

 

To avoid any delay or confusion, Akinlabi say NIS don set clear work-plan calendar to make sure say passport issuance no suffer interruption during the transition.

 

He advise members of the public make dem ignore fake and speculative stories wey fit cause unnecessary panic and misunderstanding.
