Former Flying Eagles goalkeeper, James Samuel Friday, has earned his first senior-team start for SJK ahead of their topflight league clash against Jaro in Finland, reports www.totorinews.com.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season with SJK Akatemia, the club’s B team competing in Finland’s Ykkosliiga, where he emerged as one of the league’s standout performers. Friday’s impressive run of form saw him claim the Man of the Match award on several occasions, as well as the Best Goalkeeper award in the Ykkosliiga.

His promotion to the senior side marks a significant milestone in the career of the former Mavlon FC of Lagos goalkeeper, especially after being named in the starting lineup under a new coaching regime at SJK.

Standing tall at 6ft 5 inches, Friday is widely regarded as a commanding presence between the posts. Expectations are high that he will continue his upward trajectory and establish himself as a dependable last line of defense for SJK as he takes this important step in his professional development.
