Mighty Jets Int’l FC continued their impressive form in the Nigeria National League (NNL) with a solid 2-0 victory over Gombe United at the Zaria Road Stadium. The win, their second consecutive triumph, propels the Jos-based team to 2nd place in the NNL Conference C standings.
Amos Gyang put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute, setting the stage for a commanding performance. Ogenyi Matthew doubled the lead with a perfectly timed header in the 69th minute, leaving Gombe United struggling to find a response.
Jets’ goalkeeper, Gobum Rotduwe, was instrumental in maintaining the clean sheet, producing a series of crucial saves in the final moments of the game.
Head coach Abubakar Ibrahim praised his team’s determination and resilience, describing the performance as a testament to their hard work. Assistant coach Najib Mabo expressed confidence that injury concerns would not derail their momentum, as the team prepares for an away fixture against Sokoto United.
“We’ll focus on improving our set pieces and converting more chances in future games,” Mabo added.
In a show of sportsmanship, Gombe United assistant coach Haruna Abdullahi, speaking for head coach Bala Nikyu, congratulated Mighty Jets on their win, noting that the game provided valuable lessons for his team.
Mighty Jets now sit two points behind Conference C leaders Wikki Tourists, who defeated Jigawa Golden Stars 3-1 to maintain their position at the top with 10 points.
