Goals in either side of halftime from Chineme Chinonso and Onyeka Ezigbo was all Coal City United needed to see off the challenge of visiting 1472 FC in a routine 2-0 home victory to return to winning ways in the ongoing NNL season.

The hosts seeking to redeem themselves in the aftermath of losing woefully on matchweek 15 in the southern A conference against Smart City FC in lagos succumbing to a hapless 4-1 defeat, read in between the lines and started on the front foot with couple of early statements from the likes of Chidera Edeh, Chineme Chinonso as threats to the opposition goalkeeper, eventually it was the former's involvement in the box having being hurled down to present  a spot kick opportunity for the hosts, as Chineme Chinonso expertly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to hand the Enugu based outfit the lead in the 35th minute prior to halftime break.

Upon resumption of the second half the visitors roared loudly in search of restoration of parity with the midfield presence of left footed Ifunanya Ohanaka dictating play for the travel-sick visitors, sadly all his efforts amounting to sheer futility.

Midway into the second half, left coach Ani Star Plus making some seeming productive alterations as Onyeka Ezigbo was introduced.  The hosts kept hold of play with precision and impressive build-up from the back to the middle notably with the presence of blonde haired Pius Igwe hugely felt.

In the quest for a late salvation for the visitors, it was the hosts who had the last laugh as a well positioned Onyeka Ezigbo capitalised on a squared ball down the right flank to bury home from close range much to the delight of the teeming fans at the UNEC temporal stadium, the gangling striker's goal proving crucial as maximum points became sealed for coach Ani Star Plus' led Coal City United.

Next for Coal City United is a crunch state FA Cup finals against high flying Rangers Football Club on the 30th of March billed for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu.
