Abia Comets Head Coach Kelvin Ejeh has described his team's three goals to one victory against Dakada FC as a well deserved one for the team.

According to the youthful tactician popularly called "Mouriho" by his admirers, "It was a well deserved victory as the boys came out smoking from the blast of the whistle which paid off in the 14th minutes". 

"Though it was a shame that we lost so many begging chances in the course of the match, this we have to work on before we go for our next match in Calabar, We will try and sharpen Our goal scoring skills going forward" he said.

James Jonah scored a brace as Abia Comets FC thrashed their Visitors, Dakkada FC, by 3-1 on Saturday. 

The encounter which is a Matchday 9 clash, of the 2023/24 Nigeria National League (NNL) Sourthern Conference Group A was played at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Umuahia. 

Jonah scored the curtain raiser in the14th minute when he connected with a headed from a delightful cross by Hyacinth Olieh.

However, in the 19th minute, Jonah had a good scoring chance to double the lead, when he beat off two Dakkada FC defenders but failed to slot it from close range. 

It started to look like a clear dominance by the Coach Okechukwu Ejeh led side, as Olieh made it 2-0, in the 36th minute, when he tapped the ball inside the net from Benjamin IIuyomade's long free kick, as Comets went into the half time break with a 2-0 lead. 

On resumption, In the second half,  Jonah scored a solo goal to make it 3-0, after he headed home a delightful free kick delivered by Akpan Mfreke, in the 48th minute, which became his third league goal of the season. 

The visitors scored a consolation goal through  Aniekan Ekpe, in the final 15 minutes of the game via a free kick that went past Comets goalkeeper, Chibueze Lambert.

Speaking further on the match, Coach Ejeh praised the performance of the players, saying that the team will continue to hard work and improve. 
"It's a vital three points for us against a tough Dakkada FC side. But it was a good game for us because we won but there are still area that we need to work on because of the goals scoring opportunities we failed to convert in the game." Ejeh concluded.
