The Weightlifting Federation of Africa (WFA) elections, held in Moka, Mauritius, at the ongoing African Weightlifting Championship, have brought significant gains for Nigerian weightlifting. Three Nigerians have secured key roles on the WFA board.

The newly elected Nigerians are:
- Dr. Ibrahim Abdul, President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), who becomes the Chairman of the WFA Marketing Commission
- Chimdi Ejiogu, former President of the NWF, retains his position as Vice President of the WFA
- Lawrence Iquaibom, who joins the WFA Technical Committee

This development strengthens Nigeria's presence and influence in African weightlifting, providing opportunities for growth, development, and increased competitiveness in the sport. The NWF looks forward to leveraging these roles to promote weightlifting in Nigeria and beyond.
