Nigerian Armed Forces Retire 656 Senior Non-commissioned Officers After 35 Years of Service
The Nigerian Armed Forces have retired 656 senior non-commissioned officers after 35 years of service. The retirees, who underwent a six-month demilitarisation training programme, were honoured at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre in Oshodi.
The retirees comprise 535 Nigerian Army personnel, 86 Nigerian Navy personnel, 35 Nigerian Air Force personnel, and two Defence Intelligence Agency officials. Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, praised the retirees for their vital services to the country's peace and security.
Abubakar encouraged the retirees to transition into civilian life with confidence, assuring them that their training and experiences will ensure a smooth transfer. NAFRC Commandant Air Vice Marshal Mamman emphasized the centre's role in preparing retiring officers for life after duty, having trained over 51,000 personnel.
