Team Nigeria has won its first gold medal at the ongoing Invictus game in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The Invictus Games Foundation offers a recovery pathway for international wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women

Peacemaker Azuegbulam was the hero for Nigeria as he went all out to record an impressive lift in  light power lifting category.Which will likely set the tone for other Nigerian athletes at the competition  

The competition which is held in Germany and  hosted for  the first time by the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) kicked off on Saturday, September 9 and to run till 16th 

Nigeria is participating in four sports, namely  powerlifting, table tennis, track and field and sitting volleyball.

The Invictus game was initiated in 2014 by Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex with the goal of  giving  soldiers who are wounded, injured or ill in body and soul a greater awareness and recognition in society and to support their path in rehabilitation.

Under the theme “A Home For Respect” the city, together with the German Federal Armed Forces, welcomes around 500 competitors from 21 nations as well as around 1,000 family members and friends to compete in ten disciplines.
