Nationwide League One, NLO, side, St Nwadinso FC, Oba, will get their 2025 Neros/Anambra FA Cup Campaign underway with a clash against Game Changers FC, Awka, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

This is one of the high points of the draws conducted Wednesday at the State FA Secretariat, Awka.

11 teams registered for this year's edition of the tournament with Neros Pharmaceuticals being the sole sponsors since 2007.

Five teams were drawn bye in the thrilling and colourful draw ceremony supervised by the FA Acting Secretary, Raphael Nweke.

The teams include title holders, Solution FC, 2024 runners-up EDEL FC, 2023 winners Ozalla FA, Peace FC and Black Smithers FC.

Sir Victor Nwangwu, a former Rangers Stars and ex Anambra FA Secretary, who represented the sponsor, Poll Emenike (Odenigbo Nanka), decried the low number of participating clubs in the 2025 edition of the annual Neros Pharmaceuticals/Anambra,FA Cup.

Nwangwu attributed this development to the high registration fee pegged by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and appealed to the FA to deliver their plea for a reduction in the registration fees to the NFF.

"In the past, we used to have over 60 clubs participate in the state FA Cup. In Lagos, there used to be about 200 clubs taking part.

"That's no longer the case now and this is not giving sponsors the desired mileage.

"FA Cup is an all comers competition, a grassroot oriented competition. In UK, clubs from every nook and cranny take part and with reduced registration fees, more clubs will register and organisers still make reasonable money. But with high fees, less clubs take part and the expected revenue diminishes", Nwangwu said.

John Ubendu, Secretary of Anambra Referees Council took time out to talk to club representatives on the laws of the game and need for discipline during matches.

Mrs Cordelia Akanna, member, Anambra FA and Chairman State FA Referees Committee who also is a veteran NFF Match Commissioner, represented the FA Chairman, Chikelue 'General' Iloenyosi, during Wednesday's draw ceremony.
