The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration following a courtesy visit to the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Abia State Directorate.

 

The visit, which took place on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, saw the NDLEA State Commander, Odoemelam C. Chigbu, lead his team to meet with the NOA State Director, Victor O. Orji, and members of the agency’s management team.

 

Speaking during the meeting, Chigbu explained that the visit was aimed at deepening existing collaboration between both agencies in tackling drug abuse across the state. He stressed the need to leverage NOA’s strong grassroots presence to boost public awareness campaigns, encourage community involvement in identifying drug traffickers, and enhance intelligence sharing for more effective enforcement.

 

In his response, Orji assured the NDLEA of NOA’s full support, highlighting the agency’s credibility and wide reach as critical tools in addressing drug abuse, especially among young people in Abia State.

 

During the interactive session, NOA officials raised concerns on key operational issues, including the need for more time to engage corps members at orientation camps, as well as calls for faster prosecution of drug-related cases and greater clarity on penalties for offenders. The NDLEA commander addressed these concerns and pledged sustained cooperation.

 

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both agencies reaffirming their commitment to a stronger partnership aimed at achieving more impactful results in the fight against drug abuse in Abia State.
