It was another cherry on the cake for the Nigeria basketball Federation, as the coach of Nigeria's senior female national basketball team, the D'Tigress, Rena Wakama, was named by FIBA as the best female basketball coach at the just concluded Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

 

Following the sterling performances of the D’Tigress and the obvious technical expertise deployed by the Coach, endless felicitations and commendations for Coach Rena Wakama have been pouring in from all lovers of the game.

 

In a congratulatory message, the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, remarked that the rare recognition by FIBA of Wakama’s Technical abilities at the games are further testament to the ever-growing profile of Nigeria basketball, as well driven by the Federation over the years. 

 

While congratulating the coach, Kida said that he believes that this very rare honour would further spur her to aim for greater things for the benefit of Nigerian basketball, and to encourage other Nigerian coaches to strive for greatness in the game.

 

Kida added that the NBBF, under his leadership, would continue to work harder to ensure that the recent feats achieved by Nigeria basketball at all levels are improved upon, as the NBBF would not rest on its oars to continue to lift the game and Nigeria to greater heights.
