Reiterates commitment to revitalizing Nigerian sports under the Renewed Hope agenda

 

The leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC), led by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the Presidential Villa on Thursday to deliver a progress report on the ongoing efforts to reform and elevate Nigerian sports.

 

During the meeting, Mallam Shehu Dikko expressed gratitude to the President for entrusting the NSC leadership with the task of transforming the sports sector. He pledged that the commission would remain focused and committed to fulfilling its mandate in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

 

“This is a massive opportunity to help propagate the Renewed Hope agenda through sports,” Dikko stated. “We are determined not to disappoint you or Nigerians, and the support we are receiving from stakeholders and the private sector has been incredibly encouraging.”

 

Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade echoed Dikko’s sentiments, thanking the President for his unwavering support and reaffirming the commission’s dedication to achieving sustainable progress.

 

“You have shown a special place for sports in your heart, and we are determined to ensure this sector becomes an integral part of your legacy,” Olopade said. “We will not fail in creating a sustainable economic outlook for Nigerian sports.”

 

The meeting also featured Chief Adegboye Adeyinka, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroot Sports Development, who emphasized his commitment to advancing sports from the grassroots level.

 

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering growth in the sports sector, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the government and private sector to achieve sustainable development.

 

The new NSC leadership pledged to continue driving initiatives that will position Nigerian sports as a significant contributor to the nation’s economic and social development.
