Nasarawa United Fall to Akwa United in NPFL Match-Day 12 Clash
Nasarawa United, popularly known as the Solid Miners, suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Akwa United in their Match-Day 12 rescheduled encounter of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. The game took place on Saturday afternoon at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State
Paul Acquah delivered the decisive blow for Akwa United, scoring in the 34th minute after a defensive error by the visitors.
The hosts were reduced to ten men in the second half when Reuben Bala received a second yellow card, but Nasarawa United could not capitalize on the numerical advantage. Despite mounting several spirited attacks, the Solid Miners were unable to find the equalizer.
The defeat leaves Nasarawa United in 19th position on the NPFL table with 12 points from 12 games. Akwa United, with the same points tally, climbed to 16th place thanks to a superior goal difference.
Coach Kabir Dogo and his charges now turn their focus to an away fixture against Plateau United. The Match-Day 13 clash is scheduled for Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the New Jos International Stadium.
Nasarawa United will aim to bounce back and secure vital points as the league campaign intensifies.
