Nasarawa United endured a disappointing 3-0 defeat on the road to Remo Stars at their Ikenne stadium in Ogun State during the sixth matchday of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League on Sunday evening.

This result is one the team aims to quickly put behind them as they prepare for their next match.

After a scoreless first half, Remo Stars dominated the second half, netting three goals in just 17 minutes, leaving Nasarawa United struggling to respond. Goals from Sikiru Alimi, Stanley Joseph, and Ismail Sodiq sealed the win for the home side.

Despite the scoreline, United displayed flashes of skill and determination, creating several scoring chances, though Umar Ibrahim and Terdoo Shimagande were unable to convert.

Defensively, the Solid Miners faced considerable pressure, with Remo Stars effectively exploiting counter-attacks.

Technical Director Kabir Dogo acknowledged Remo Stars’ strong performance but emphasized that this loss would not define the season. He stated that the team would regroup, identify weaknesses, and return stronger.

“The team’s spirit remains unbroken,” he said. “We’re eager to move past this setback quickly.

“Our focus is now on our upcoming home match against Abia Warriors on October 16, where we aim to regain our momentum and return to winning ways. We’re planning our strategy and making necessary adjustments to prepare for the challenge ahead.

“The continued support from our fans is invaluable, and we can’t wait to get back on the pitch to make them proud.”

Following Sunday’s match, United dropped to 13th place in the standings with six points from six games, while Remo Stars climbed to the top with 15 points from the same number of matches.
