Earl Osaro Onaiwu, the frontline PDP Governorship candidate in the upcoming Edo Gubernatorial elections, says he firmly believes in an inclusive and people-centered Government that prioritises the welfare of its citizens.

He stated this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja.

Onaiwu said that by prioritizing well-being, he envisions a society that fosters personal growth, happiness, and social cohesion.

 According to him,"life is about well-being while government should be rooted in  " "welfarism "to better serve the people of Edo State.

"Welfarism is the complex of policies, attitudes and beliefs associated with the welfare state.

"In today's world, the pursuit of well-being and the concept of Government as a catalyst for welfare have gained significant importance.

"At its core, well-being encompasses physical, mental, and social aspects of an individual's life,it refers to the holistic state of being happy, healthy, and interconnected within a supportive community. "he said.

Onaiwu stated that for individuals to flourish and contribute positively to society, their basic needs must be met, and they should have access to quality healthcare, education, and social services. 

Onaiwu emphasized that the government is the prime enabler and facilitator of well-being for its citizens. It is the responsibility of the government to formulate policies and provide services that uplift and empower the people. 

"Edo State, under Onaiwu's leadership, will strive to create an enabling environment that promotes individual well-being through encouraging entrepreneurship, improving access to quality healthcare, enhancing educational opportunities, and building robust social protection systems.

"I envision an all- inclusive society where every citizen's voice is heard and respected. 

"My  administration will emphasize meaningful citizen participation through town hall meetings, community engagement initiatives, and the establishment of inclusive policy-making processes." he said

He stressed that welfarism and inclusivity will improve and promote the life's of the people .

Onaiwu,who is also the Pioneer Director-General of the PDP Governor's Forum noted that"welfarism which marries the idea of the welfare state with the principles of fairness and justice.will  bridge the gap between the privileged and the marginalized, creating a level playing field.

 

"This approach aims to bridge the gap between the privileged and the marginalized, creating a level playing field that allows every citizen to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Edo State.

"Under my leadership, a government rooted in this approach, will ensure that the benefits of social policies, opportunities, and resources are distributed equitably among all segments of society." he said.

"Onaiwu added that 
in the pursuit of well-being ,there is a need for empowering women, youths, and vulnerable populations, providing them with equal opportunities and access to resources in ensuring improved standards of living and  living fulfilling lives."he added.

Onaiwu picked up his expression of interest form from the PDP headquarters in Abuja recently.

 This move officially indicates his readiness to contest the 2024 gubernatorial primaries of the party.
