Dr. Doyin Okupe, former Director-General of Peter Obi's Presidential Campaign Organisation, has responded to critics who have been insulting him for supporting President Bola Tinubu's economic recovery plan. Okupe described his attackers as "ignorant" and "political urchins" who resort to insults because they lack knowledge.

In a statement, Okupe emphasized that the project of Nigeria is bigger than any individual or political party. He urged citizens to put aside their differences and work together to move the country forward, adding that constructive criticism and patience are essential in a democratic society.

Okupe also expressed regret that many young Nigerians who abuse elders are misinformed about the country's history. He reminded his critics that he had resigned from the Labour Party and had supported Obi based on personal conviction, without expecting personal benefits.

Okupe offered to serve as an elder statesman and private adviser to the President, stating that Obi can confirm or refute his assertion. He emphasized his commitment to Nigeria's progress, regardless of political affiliations.
