As Nigerians home and in the diaspora join other muslim faithfuls around the world to mark and celebrate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, President of Nigeria Basketball Federation has enjoined muslim faithfuls to imbibe the pious virtues of the month as inscribed in the Holy book, Quran.
In his yearly message, Kida, as usual, stated that the month of Ramadan is not only about fasting, but much more, a month of sober reflections, love, peace, forgiveness and kindness.
"We are grateful to Allah Almighty for granting us the grace to witness and celebrate another month of Ramadan. God has, indeed, been faithful.
"Let me use this gracious opportunity to enjoin fellow muslim faithfuls to imbibe in the virtues of this holy month and eschew bitterness, animosity and hatred. This month is another opportunity for us to show love, kindness and of course, share peace amongst ourselves."
The NBBF boss, also used the moment to task Nigerians to fervently pray for peace, unity and prosperity for Nigeria.
"It is also very important that we pray for peace and unity of our dear country, Nigeria. We know that the country is presently facing lots of socio-economic challenges, but with prayers, patience, patriotism and of course, true supports for the government, our country, shall get better," Kida stated.
