Monsoon T20 Cricket Series Begin In Abuja
In its effort to re-energize the game of cricket in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Cricket team has played against the Pakistan team, also known as Millenium team.
The game, the first of the three series, was held at the CCA Cricket Playing Ground, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
The Pakistan team tossed and batted first. At the end of first innings, the Millenium team played 20 overs with 152 runs in All out. FCT team failed to match their opponent as they ended their game with 34 runs, All out in 9 overs
Reacting to the score, Chairman, FCT Cricket Association, Engineer Emeka Onyeama said the event is part of the ongoing efforts to raise the tempo of the game in the Federal Capital Territory.
" We are not disturbed that our team lost this margin to the Pakistani team. What we are doing is to line up activities to keep our male and female players ever busy. This is just one of them. We are still going to face the Millenium team again. We hope to pay them back same way" Emeka assures. In his reaction, the President of Pakistan Millenium Sports Club Association of Abuja, Ramesh Ghabge, praised the FCT team for showcasing young talents in their team. He promised that the Millenium team would not lose focus in their next game.
Highlight of the event is the announcement of an 11-year-old Abdulrahman Adamu of the Northern cosmopolitan cricket academy as the Man of the Match.
Both teams will play their second series, Sunday, next week at the same venue.
