Former Super Eagles defender, Chikelue Iloenyosi, who is also Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, has heaped plaudits on veteran Sports journalist, Ralph Chidozie George, over what he described as his 'splendid' performance in his 'Lead Commentator' role during the 2025 CAF Women's Nations Cup in Morocco, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

CAF named the Nigerian journalist as its 'Lead Commentator' during the Championship, the first by any Nigerian.

Iloenyosi, who also said George proved a good 'Ambassador of ANSFA' at the tournament, described him as a 'trail blazer'.
George, who is a board member of the Anambra State Football Association, led commentaries of four games of the African Women's Championship for CAF.

Describing him as a 'dedicated and passionate lover of the game',  Iloenyosi, who is fondly called 'General', said ANSFA is proud of him.

“We at ANSFA are very proud of our board member and Chairman of our media committee for being selected by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) and becoming the first lead Commentator from Nigeria to call matches at any CAF tournament in recent years", Iloenyosi pointed out.

“It is a great achievement and we are extremely happy that one of our own made such history”, the 'Capacity Chairman' said.
George just returned from Morocco where he served as 'Lead Commentator' in four matches of the WAFCON (three group C games and the Algeria versus Ghana quarter final) of the Women Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF in recent years select some ex players from Nigeria as analysts (colour commentators) but for WAFCON 2025 they picked the former Radio Nigeria, Brila FM and Cosmo FM presenter as a lead English commentator.

“We commend CAF for picking one of the best in the Continent and giving him the chance” ‘General’ Iloenyosi added.

Over the years Ralph Chidozie George has grown to become one of the renowned sports commentators in the Country.

Apart from football, he has been involved in Boxing, Athletics and Tennis commentaries which remarkably stands him out.
'RCG', as he is fondly called is a sport journalist of over 30 years standing working with several Radio stations and many private productions.
