Veteran Nollywood actress Moji Afolayan has opened up about her love journey with fellow actor Rasaq Olayiwola, popularly known as Ojopagogo, revealing that marrying someone in the entertainment industry was never part of her plan.

In an intimate interview with Oyinmomo TV, the respected Yoruba film star — daughter of legendary filmmaker Ade Love — recounted how her love story took an unexpected turn after meeting Ojopagogo on a movie set.

“I had no intention of marrying someone from the theatre world,” Afolayan admitted. “I was born into this industry, so I understand how things work.”

Despite her background, Afolayan said she had strong reservations about dating or marrying within Nollywood, citing concerns about lifestyle, instability, and cultural patterns she had observed.

“I told him I would not marry a theatre practitioner. They always come from polygamous homes,” she explained. “I said, ‘I can’t marry you, you don’t stay at home.’ We had concrete discussions and arguments.”

Afolayan emphasized that her hesitation was never personal. Rather, it stemmed from a desire to avoid the complications she had seen many colleagues endure in industry relationships.

“I wasn’t really saying yes to anybody because I was in and out of the industry,” she said. “I told him if we were meant to be together, he should pray about it, and I would pray too.”

Eventually, it was prayer — not persuasion — that aligned their hearts.

“It turned out to be him, and the rest became history,” Afolayan said with a smile.

Today, the couple is known for their enduring partnership both on and off screen, a testament to the power of faith, communication, and a shared understanding of the demanding life within Nollywood.
