Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has strongly denied reports suggesting he plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling the claims “false, unfounded, and a product of political mischief.”

 

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @KwankwasoRM, the former Kano State governor firmly distanced himself from the swirling speculations, asserting that he has chosen to remain deliberately silent amid ongoing political realignments.

 

“My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly stating my position on the recurring political realignments. I wish to categorically state that such statements are false, unfounded, and products of political mischief,” Kwankwaso posted.

 

He also disavowed a statement recently circulated in his name and attributed to one Ibrahim Rabiu. The individual in question has since publicly retracted the comments and issued an apology.

 

“I was never authorized by Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso to issue and release a statement on his behalf,” Rabiu confessed. “I apologize for this childish act. I was misled by fake news and agents of misinformation. Please forgive me.”

 

Kwankwaso urged the public to disregard any unauthorized statements or politically motivated fabrications, stressing that only information from his verified channels should be trusted regarding his political future.

 

The rebuttal comes amid heightened speculation and shifting alliances in Nigeria’s political landscape, with Kwankwaso making it clear he remains committed to the NNPP for the time being.
